After a nightmare flight, with delays and security scares, we finally arrived in Istanbul. Steve met us at Ataturk airport and we got to bed at about 3.30am to get about 3 hours sleep before catching an 8.30 car ferry from Istanbul (Yenipaki) to Bandirma and then a long drive through Canakkale and on to Troy. Follow the route, and our later travels, on the map at the bottom of this page.

The site is surprisingly small but still interesting. The compulsory Trojan Horse was the only gimmicky item. The rest of the site was well laid out and labeled and you were free to roam.

I think that is Frances and Gregor peering out.

For most of our time in Turkey, Steve was the official tour guide. However, at times Sarah took over. Here she is explaining that Troy was in fact one of the earliest cities to be constructed entirely from Lego. Thus proving that the Danes were early colonisers of this region. Not a lot of people know that!

After Troy we headed back to Canakkale to spend a night in a hotel before a short ferry ride the next day.
