Jaafar returned to Wadi Musa to collect us at 10.30am for the return trip to Queen Alia Airport, Amman. We had expected a direct trip but but he had one more detour that he thought we would like – Shobak Castle.

The castle is undergoing reconstruction work but as with every site we have visited we were free to clamber anywhere we like. Health & Safety would have a field day!

Next stop the airport and back to Abu Dhabi. We certainly intend to come back. There is lots more to see in Petra and we still need to dive in the Red Sea from Aqaba. Anyone keen to come with us next time?
