Nigel’s new job came with a much improved housing package. So it is time to get out of the apartment and into a villa.
We have a found a 4 bedroom villa in a housing compound just off Abu Dhabi island. Facilities on-site include a swimming pool and gym, a cafe, a small supermarket and a chemist and barbers. Seems to have everything we need.
Moving was quite an experience.
Notice that the removal truck has no roof. It doesn’t rain so why bother with a roof? We think that there were more than 20 men involved. It was a twelve hour day and the whole move cost about $1000. If all the money went to the men it would only be $50 each. You can guarantee that most of the money went to the company so you have an idea of the sort of wages many people are on.

The sandpit seems to re-organise itself every time the wind blows – most in through the kitchen door and all the downstairs windows! So we will have to do something with it. Until we do just make sure you pack a bucket and spade so that you can enjoy making sandcastles.
