Although this was our second visit and we re-walked some of the routes that we had tramped last year there was still lots more to see.

On the second day we had planned to enter through an alternative route shown on the guide maps. As we set off the tourist police called us back and said that it was too dangerous to go without a guide. Not to be deterred we simply opted to come home that way. This turned out to be the highlight of our two days. A Bedouin lady on a donkey led us to the entrance of the return route and a man who had followed insisted on coming with us as our guide. The narrow wadi eventually led us back to the start of the Siq, the usual entrance to Petra.
