Abu Dhabi is Pakistan’s defacto home ground and this week they played a test against England. The ground is only a short walk from our villa we went to investigate. We had only intended to find out how much the tickets but when the guard told us it was free we ended up inside.
The first entrance took us into the Pakistan end where Sue was the only female so we rapidly back-peddled and joined the Barmy Army at the opposite end.
We were only there for the last few overs of the day but enjoyed it so much that we went back on Friday afternoon when the stadium was full and the atmosphere even more carnival like. Play the video taken on Sue’s phone for a sample of the Pakistani drums and the Barmy Army’s trumpet player.

For the record, it was a close contest until the fourth day when England crumbled.
