We have finally worked out that the key word is ‘trek’. This is not the same as ‘walk’. This looked to us to be a short stroll on the edge of the city. How hard could it be? Obviously no need for boots or even shoes. Sandals would be fine.
We managed. And it was a fabulous walk but definitely mountainous and certainly not a short stroll. Once again fabulous views and interesting old falaj systems and a water filled wadi.

The end of the wadi was blocked by a high dam, presumably to prevent flooding in the town. So one last climb took us through a graveyard and back into town.
A cup of tea and lunch and then of to the Sultan’s Palace.
