The Farne Islands for me, Holy Island for Sue and Craster kippers for lunch for Mam and Dad.
On an hour and a half hour boat trip from the small harbour at Seahouses we managed to sail around the inner and outer Farne Islands where thousand of seabirds were nesting and hundreds of Grey Seals were basking on rocks.
Puffins, razorbills, guillemots, shags and gulls were all that I could identify, no doubt there were many more.

We were back in Seahouses in time for lunch – kippers and bread and butter washed down with Old Speckled Hen on draught.
Then on to Holy Island across the causeway before the tide came in. We had picked the right day and had until 5:40 on the island. Time to visit the ruins of Lindisfarne Monastery and walk around the castle.
