Since Sue sacked the gardener, for trying to sell us somebody else’s plants, not a lot has been done in the garden – not that the gardener ever seemed to do very much anyway! Time for ‘green fingers’ Nigel to take control.
Starting work at 7am while it was only 35 degrees and armed with a brand new set of shears I have trimmed back the ornamental grasses. The trim was even more severe than the haircut Sue gave me but I’m sure they will be OK in a month or so.
Gardening at this time of day does have the advantage that Sue is not around to supervise. By the time she gets up it will be too hot to do anymore work.
Time for a cup of tea.
