There were a few benefits to staying in the Sahab Hotel. As well as clean beds, showers and a fabulous breakfast, we also woke up to stunning views across the 2,000 metre high plateau.
It also meant that we were in a perfect position to do an easy walk through three villages clinging to the hillside above terraces, irrigated through an old falaj system.

The hotel even came and collected us from the end of the walk before we set off on the long drive almost back to the border so that we could camp at Madbah.
