It’s a long drive out to the desert at Liwa but well worth the effort. Abu Dhabi is surrounded by desert but as you head towards the Liwa Oasis the dunes get higher and the sand changes colour becoming more and more red.

With Paul and Wendy, Fataya and Lolee with took coffee at the Qasar Al Sarab hotel and then headed into the dunes.

We just managed to set up camp before sunset but this was the scene the next morning..

While enjoying a drink around the camp fire we had set ourselves the challenge of climbing the giant dune so this morning we opted to do it before breakfast and before the sun got too hot. Very hard work but the views made it worthwhile.
