Apparently ‘Damm’ roughly translates to ‘hidden’ and this wadi certainly has many hidden secrets.
We came here with the boys in December and discovered an unmarked trail into what we thought was the end of the wadi. This gave us relatively quick access to some glorious swimming holes.
This time a late afternoon walk around the rim of the wadi showed us that the end of the wadi was in fact a right angled bend and the wadi continued for another kilometre or so before disappearing around another corner and apparently meandering for several more kilometres into the mountains.
At this bend we found a way down into the wadi and decided that tomorrow’s walk would be a descent into the wadi and a short stroll to the swimming holes. In fact it turned out to be a three hour slog over huge boulders and through water scoured channels.

It was worth every minute. A hidden world of secret pathways and hidden gardens.
