After a pleasant train ride from Wareham to Durham we are now in Costa del Tudhoe. Blue skies every day and drinks outside each evening.
We did our usual walk from home to Durham.

The next walk was meant to be from Finchale Abbey (prizes for anyone who can pronounce it) into Durham along the River Wear. Dad dropped us at the abbey and we expected to be picked up somewhere in Durham. Instead we discovered that there isn’t actually a path along this stretch of river.
After numerous detours through some very pretty woodland and along a disused railway line we eventually gave up, phoned home and waited to be collected a long way from the city.

A lovely afternoon despite the detours, followed by a family get together in the evening.

We are now on the train heading for Aberdeen to catch the overnight ferry to Lerwick, Shetland. We are hoping that the heat wave continues but knowing Shetland weather will be content with a few dry days!
