Two ferry rides later we are back on Mainland on a campsite in Lerwick. Perfect weather the next day sees us on a boat trip around Bressay Island and the Isle of Noss – seabird city.

Clickimin Brock

After three hours on the boat, a 20 minute walk from Victoria Pier in Lerwick takes us to Clickimin Brock. The camp site is in the background at the far end of the loch – only until September when it is to be cleared to make way for a new school.

St Ninian’s Isle

With the sun still shining we made our way to St Ninian’s Isle, described as one of Shetland’s crowning jewels, a sand tombolo connects the island to Mainland.

With dark clouds looking threatening we set of for a short walk across the sand and back. But the cloud cleared and we returned several hours later having walked most of the way around the island.
