Nigel had not been back to New Zealand for two and a half years so this trip was well overdue. A complimentary upgrade to first class started things of on the right note. Then time with Graeme and Daniel while staying with Tony and Jean and a good dose of clear, crisp winter weather made for a fabulous two weeks.

In the first week we found time to head north and stayed with Kay. There were a noticeable changes at Paradise Point – lots more new houses, new harbour walls and our gardens were looking great.

A few new experiences in Auckland..
La Cigale – a French style farmers market in Parnell

The Waitakere Ranges

Piha – probably New Zealand’s most famous beach and this is our first visit

Karekare – another special west coast beach – used in the filming of The Piano – a beautiful place, especially in the fading light of a clear winter’s day.
