“First star on the right and then straight on until morning.”

It might not be Never Never Land but it is world away from Abu Dhabi and a night here feels like a real break.

This time we left after work on Thursday, picked up Margaret in Al Ain, and arrived at Jebel Misht in the moonlight. Just time for a night cap and then off to bed.

Margaret was suitably impressed once sunrise revealed our surroundings and after a leisurely breakfast we returned to the swimming hole that we had discovered on our last visit. The ladies relaxed in and by the pool while Nigel explored the upper reaches of the wadi – which we have since discovered is called ‘Wadi Jil’.

Entertainment around the pool included attempting to photograph a dragonfly in flight. No success with that, but all manner little critters presented themselves for their moments in the spotlight.
