We’re off to Delhi. A bit sad to leave the tranquility but…
We are flying with Jet Airways – apparently a good choice, but they manage to send one of our bags to Amritsar or somewhere, meaning a serious delay at the airport and mega frustration – especially when we discover that it was the bag that had all of our clean clothes, our wash bags and basically everything we actually needed – all we had with us was smelly laundry and a tripod!!
We leave the hotel to sort out some urgent laundry for us and hope that perhaps our bag will also be returned to us while we are out.
First stop is one of the largest Mosques in India, the Jama Masjid. Completed by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan over 360 years ago, it can accommodate over 25000 faithful – and we’re seeing it today as it will be packed for Eid Al Adha worshippers tomorrow.

The next few hours have to be the most fun we’ve ever had ‘shopping’. We explore the streets of Delhi on foot and by cycle rickshaw. The sights, smells, noise and chaos will linger fondly and forever.

The Oberoi, Gurgaon couldn’t match the peace and tranquility of the previous two hotels but it wasn’t too bad for a big city hotel. The gardeners have an interesting job.
