Oz and Nigel met at Loughborough University in 1978 where they were led astray by some interesting characters.

From this group of 9 intellectuals, four did not progress to their second year at university, one changed courses and so managed to spend 5 years getting his first degree, one ended up in prison, and one stopped speaking to the rest of the group and went on to complete his PhD.

Fortunately, within the next couple of years Sue and Denise arrived to start the long process of training them both to be respectable members of the community. This is still work in progress.

38 years later Oz is based in Dubai and we have just spent a fabulous weekend camping in Oman and visiting a couple of our favourite sites.

Oz finally got his Dubai Tractor off-road when we arrived at our Jebel Misht camp site in the dark and then again the next day when we took the long off-road link track to Jebel Shams to walk to the abandoned village of As Sab – a fabulous donkey track clinging to the cliff along the edge of Wadi Nakhar. Saturday was a much more leisurely (to everyones relief) visit to the 5,000 year old ‘Beehive Tombs’ before the long trip back to Abu Dhabi.

Thank you Oz and Den for a great weekend away. Where to next?
