The forecast was for wind and clouds. It was half right. Our rooftop tent was given a good workout in a stiff breeze on both nights. But the days were mostly cloud free so that we appreciated a refreshing dip in the wadi after a ‘Mad Dogs and Englishmen’ walk in the midday sun.
As usual Nigel was up before the sun and his exploratory amble up the wadi turned into a two hour hike when he decided to climb to the saddle that marks the end of Jebel Misht.
A short climb from the dry waterfall at the end of the wadi was expected to lead to the saddle. Instead it revealed another section of the wadi with a precarious goat track leading to another false summit. Eventually the saddle was reached and provided impressive views and a different perspective on ‘our’ camp site.
