“Uganda multi-activity safari” was the heading on the itinerary supplied by Gane & Marshall, the UK tour company that Claire had used to organise this 17 day epic holiday for the usual crew – Claire, Jonathan, Nigel & Sue.

Multi-activity summed it up nicely, from relaxing river cruises to gruelling mountain treks, from chilling by the pool to thrashing through tropical jungle, and from early morning starts with breakfast in the car to sundowners on the banks of the Nile.

As usual we crammed it all in and then went back to work to recover (and save up for the next trip).

The Sunset Entebbe was a completely underwhelming overnight stop with tiny beds, giant snails and pretty butterflies. But we had made it to Uganda and would soon be on a small plane for a one hour flight to Murchson Falls National Park where the holiday would really begin.
