While we were experiencing tropical rain forests our tour company was hastily rearranging our accommodation to Isunga Lodge. A new lodge owned by Gerald, a Glaswegian, who had the most amazing selection of malt whisky.
Instead of ‘at leisure at Nyinabulitwa Country Resort’, Gerald organised Noah, a local guide, to take us on a walking tour of the local village and surrounding crater lakes.
It seemed that there was almost nothing that could not be grown in the rich volcanic soil. Several variety of banana were commonplace as well as peanuts and coffee. One interesting piece of trivia was that the first lake that we stopped to view, Lake Ndali, features on the 20 thousand shilling note.

At Isunga Lodge we grabbed some fantastic photos of the weaver birds that had captivated us on the banks of the Nile. Here there was a tree full of nests just outside the lounge. Wildlife photography from an arm chair.
