Today’s start was delayed as we waited for the rain to stop. Eventually it eased and we headed up (we thought we had done all the ‘up’ yesterday) into the bamboo zone.
If our guide breathed a sigh of relief to be out of the tree climbing elephant zone, it was short lived. Nigel knew for certain that bamboo meant we were in giant panda country and the nonsense continued.

The sun came out briefly just to lure us into removing waterproofs and then the rain returned in the form of a torrential downpour that left our walking pants soaked and our wellies (provided by the trekking company) full of water. So four cold, wet campers spent the evening huddled around a charcoal burner drying socks on walking poles.
What happened to the dry season Uganda?
